Dental & Vision Insurance

Dental and Vision insurance plans are offered nowadays to those looking for both a dental plan and a vision plan. Sometimes it’s best to combine these two plans into one because the monetary savings are worth it, especially if you or someone in your family already has to have vision correction. However, sometimes it’s still best to have separate Dental coverage and Vision coverage.

Great Plans are Available!

There are some really great plans to choose from these days, especially Dental plans. Companies want to be trusted with most of your needs and will entice you with more savings in the process. However, typically one doesn’t receive maximum benefits on a dental or vision plan until the second year of being in the plan. That can leave you with some additional costs in year one should you encounter a “situation” requiring the use of your dental or vision coverage.

Deciding Between an HMO Plan & PPO Plan

Dental and Vision plans are also offered with both PPO and HMO options, so you can choose the best setup for you. HMO plans are more affordable than PPO plans but have more restrictions. For one thing, you cannot choose a dentist outside of the network if you want to enjoy discounts. PPO plans also tend to cover more procedures.

Great Carries with Great Plans

If you want to start choosing, I can help you with several reliable dental plans that offer both dental and vision benefits. Generally speaking, if you are also purchasing a health plan along with your dental and vision plans, you may want to look towards Philadelphia American. They have great coverage, and it is very affordable. However, if you are looking for a stand-alone dental plan, a stand-alone vision plan, or a combo of the two, Ameritas has the possibly the most benefit rich plans available. Not only that, but Ameritas sets itself apart from other plans in that no matter when one enrolls in one of their plans during the year, “year 2” is considered to start on January 1 of the next year. So, for example, you enroll in an Ameritas plan in October of this year. Most plans would make you wait until the following October before increasing their benefits to the maximum level. That’s not true with Ameritas as your year 2 maximum benefits begin on January 1 of the next year, which is something to definitely consider when making a choice of dental plans/vision plans.
